The Crew

I was born in 1961 and did a bit of sailing with my father as a teenager. After high school, sailing took a back burner as a family, job, and responsibilities took over. Once I turned 50, it was time for a change. The sailing bug came back! I took the ASA 101 and ASA 103 class and bought an O'Day 192. Here's a picture of my boat:

Right now I'm having fun getting back into sailing and gaining more experience. Next year I'm planning on taking ASA 104 and then chartering some larger boats (captain first then bare boat). The main goal is to retire in the next 10-years (2023) and spend some time cruising the Caribbean. We'll see how it goes! Feed the kitty has become my new mantra. ASA 104 completed September 2014. Now it's time to sail, sail, sail! UPDATE-I've now completed ASA 104, 105, 106, 114 & 118. This gives me bareboat, navigation, catamaran & docking endorsements.

The first mate and my wonderful wife Ruth.

Plans are for her to take ASA 101 this year and get some basics down. UPDATE- Ruth has taken and passed her ASA 101 Class as of June 29th 2014. Now if I fall overboard, she has some idea how to rescue me (not that I plan on falling overboard). UPDATE- Ruth has also passed 104, 114 & 118.
