Merry Christmas

It looks like everyone does a Holiday Blog, so here's my first. Happy Holidays to everyone! This is a great time of year with Thanksgiving being my favorite Holiday by far. It's all about family, giving thanks for the blessings you've received, and having a big meal. What could get better than that?

In terms of how this affects my cruising ambitions, it will be hard to walk away from all this. Ruth and I are talking about being somewhat frugal on our travels. I don't think we will be taking too many plane rides back to see the family. When I take a look at my granddaughter though, I think it will be hard to stay away for long.

My Mother and Lucy

Falling asleep with her Dziadziu (Polish for Grandfather)
How cute!
Moving into smaller accommodations, giving up possessions, no TV, dealing with being uncomfortable at times, etc., I'm not worried about any of that.

But seriously, how do you get so far away from your friends and family?

However, we are still sticking with the plan. The natural thing to do is to teach Lucy how to sail! That way she'll be able to come visit us as often as she wants.

There will be Skype and other ways we can all stay in touch. We plan on having at least one other cabin in our boat so that we can have friends and family come and visit. For my less frugal friends, we can always meet them places and they can stay on shore if our accommodations are too tight for them.

I hope everyone had a great Holiday season and enjoyed time with your family. Next blog topic: "The birth of frugal Drew"
