Sitting here dreaming of retiring and sailing away. This is a long-term plan and until the time gets closer the blogs will be few and far between. Right now the long term planning includes getting my wife to buy in, selecting a boat, and figuring out how to collect enough money to retire.
I've taken the ASA 101 & 103 classes and have bought a small sailboat (O'day 192) to hone my sailing skills. Next up is a trip to the sailboat show in Annapolis in October and then schedule for ASA 104 next spring. Most importantly, I've picked a retirement date (1/6/2023) and a date (11/1/2023) when I want to be sitting on my boat in Florida waiting for a weather window to cross over to the Bahamas. I'm a real planner and I know the time will go quickly. That will put me at 62 and should give me enough time to enjoy the cruising lifestyle before I'm too old.
