Roller Furling Repair Did Not Work

Well, here's the glue job after setting.

Repaired Furling?

Obviously this is not going to work. There was a hole drilled in the side by the previous owner causing a weak point that broke when I tried to run the new halyard through. So, a new CDI FF2 was purchased.

This time, I took my time, measured twice, and cut once. Well, actually I cut twice because the first time I didn't take off enough, but that's better than leaving it short. Here's the new roller furling put together.

Much nicer than what I had before. This uses a "messenger line" so that there's not a whole lot of halyard to wrap around the bottom of the furling. I wouldn't call this performance sailing, but for what we do it's fine. Getting better at working on the boat, looking forward to doing in in tropical places.

The only jobs left before we put the boat in are to touch up the bottom paint and lube the outboard. Winter is almost behind us.
