One of our favorite stops along the Chesapeake is Baltimore. This was a land based trip, but I should be sailing in here early September as part of my ASA 104 class. I'd highly recommend this stop to anyone coming down the bay. The harbor is extremely vibrant (if a little touristy) and you can always take a trip over to Fell's Point for some history and really good beer.

A little expensive, but worth the stop. There are quite a few things to see within walking distance including the historic ships, submarine, aquarium, Fort McHenry (home of the Star Spangled Banner), Little Italy (italian food), Fells Point (beer, ghosts and food), art museums, Camden Yards (baseball stadium), etc.
