My wife runs the Meals on Wheels program here in Pottstown, PA and her big event is the first weekend in October. She puts in a lot of work for the big event (The Grease Band at the Sunnybrook Ballroom) and I've gotten into the habit of taking her away the following weekend for relaxation. The last two years we've gone to Rock Hall in Maryland but this year I decided on something different.
The trip this year was to Tilgman Island which is just below St. Michaels in Maryland. We're trying to visit different Chesapeake Bay towns to see which ones we might ultimately visit in future travels south on our sailboat.
The trip to Tilgham takes around 3 hours and this is a quiet little waterman town over the USA's busiest drawbridge. We stayed at a nice little bed & breakfast and rode our bikes on Friday before the big storm hit. The weekend was spent exploring and eating tons of oysters, rockfish, and crabs. The whole island is only about 3 miles long.

Definitely not as touristy as St. Michaels but still plenty of things to do for the weekend. The Waterman's Museum is a must stop as well as the environmental research center. We're keeping this on the list of potential anchorages to stay in the future during our sailing trips.
Next up for us is a few more sails on the lake, haul the boat out before the end of October, and a trip to the Spanish Virgin Islands at the end of November.
