First Bareboat Charter

We just completed our first bareboat charter on the Chesapeake and everything went very well. The trip started in Rock Hall, Maryland on Wednesday with an upwind beat into Annapolis. Winds were averaging 12-15 knots and we had some gust over 20 knots into Annapolis. Pretty much a close hauled affair the whole trip. Daylight was waining so we had to turn on the iron genoa to get in before dark.

Our boat was the 32' Catalina

Next stop was Bodkin Creek off of the Pataspco River leading to Baltimore. We were fighting thunderstorms due to arrive in the afternoon and we made it to the dock just as things were letting loose. A stay at the Parardise Cove Marina gave us a chance to cool off and grab dinner.

Last stop was a beam reach across the Bay back into Rock Hall. All in all a great trip, great sail, and a fun time with friends. Looking forward to BVI and planning the next trip! I have to say that the ASA courses we've taken really prepared us to bareboat, and while we still have a ton to learn, we felt very comfortable taking a larger boat out than our little "Turtles Krawl".

Now where's that green 1?
